The
mission of The Cornerstone Christian School is to lead
students through a maturing process spiritually, academically, physically, and socially, equipping each individual to live for Christ, honor their, family, serve in their local church and community.
Established in 1981~ The Cornerstone Christian School is a
Pre-K-12th grade
 school serving the greater Hartford area and
is
located in Manchester, CT.
We offer a sliding scale
tuition, based on your annual income, family
size and number of children attending CORNERSTONE. We also offer various
tuition payment schedules that will meet any budget.
It
is the vision of The Cornerstone Christian School to restore,
preserve and protect the spiritual integrity, the moral integrity, the
academic integrity and the financial integrity of The Cornerstone
Christian School to the third and fourth generations.
The Cornerstone Christian School
-
opened in September 1981, with 56
students in grades K-6. We are now an elementary and secondary school
offering college preparatory curriculum for grades Pre-K-12.
Teachers
-
We have a well qualified faculty. Each one
is a born again Christian, committed to a Christian philosophy of
education, and certified to teach. Our goal is to create a learning
environment where each child will grow and develop to the best of
their ability - Spiritually, academically, physically, and socially.
Students -
Students enrolled at CCS are
from homes where the parents/guardians have read, agreed to
and signed our Annual Parent Agreement and our Statement of Faith.
Curriculum
-
The ministry of Christian Schools is to
train students to have a Christian world and life view. We seek to
integrate scriptural principles and subject matter in all classes.
Campus Buildings -
Elementary (Grades K - 6) and
our secondary programs (Grades 7 - 12) are housed in separate
buildings.
Admissions Process
-
After
completing & returning the enrollment paperwork, each
student will be screened on the various testing vehicles: Stanford Achievement/Gessell
Screening/Otis Lennon. The paperwork & academic transcripts
along with completed testing then goes to our Admissions Committee
for a decision. All new students are given a probationary
period of one (1) semester. Then, if cleared, are given full
admittance.
Grades K-6:
Includes the following as core
subjects: Reading, Language Arts (Grammar, Spelling, Penmanship,
Literature, Bible, Math, Science, Music, Art, and Physical
Education.) Grades 7-8:
offer Bible, English, Literature,
Math, Science, History, Physical Education and Music. High School courses emphasize a college preparatory curriculum. The
required
courses for each grade level are as
follows:
* 9th grade: Bible, English, Algebra 1, General Science,
World History, Spanish 1 ,
Computer.
* 10th grade: Bible, English, Geometry, Biology, American
History, Spanish 2.
* 11th grade: Bible, Algebra 2, Chemistry, English, &
American History.
* 12th grade: Bible, English, Government & Health.
Membership -
The Cornerstone Christian School is a
member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
Our K-8th grades received accreditation from ACSI in 1988. This
accreditation is jointly recognized by the Connecticut State
Department of Education.
Christian Teaching -
The Cardinal doctrines of the
Christian church (as stated our Statement of Faith) will be imparted
to the children in order that they may learn that God is at the
center of all things. No distinctive doctrine will be taught.
Specific doctrinal issues will be referred to the child's own parent
or pastor.
Vacation
Days
- Typically coordinate with the
Manchester Public Schools.
Busing
- To Cornerstone is available for Manchester
residents and is provided by the town.
After School Care -
Is available for enrolled
students of Cornerstone. To obtain an application for registration
and information regarding fees, please call the school offices at
