Together Before the Throne

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.
— Revelation 7:9, NIV

Each fall we begin the school year with a special first day of school celebration!

After celebrating the start of the year with a count down and word of prayer, we spend time having fun exploring our annual theme. This year, instead of a series of faculty skits, our teachers all worked together to present a special read-aloud.

Mrs. Snyder read the book, “God’s Very Good Idea: A True Story about God’s Delightfully Different Family,” by Trillia Newbell. This book truly summarizes this year’s theme.

God’s good idea was for there to be many different people, from all nations, tribes, and languages, that would live together, loving each other and loving God. That’s a great idea!

Sin entered the world and ruined God’s good idea. While we live in sin, we can’t truly live in harmony, loving each other and loving God the way He planned.

God loved us too much to let it end there. God rescued his idea when He sent Jesus! During His life, Jesus modeled for us how to live rightly and to love others and love God well. By His death and resurrection, Jesus offered forgiveness from our sins. When we accept that forgiveness, we can begin to better love others and love God the way God intended.

God is still working, and His plan will be perfectly completed when we are truly Together Before the Throne in heaven!

However, we don’t have to wait! We are part of God’s family and His kingdom here and now! Our churches - and our school community - are part of His kingdom. We can practice loving each other the way God planned.
