Chick-fil-A Leader Academy Launches for 2024!
We have officially launched our second year of partnership with the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy! Thanks to the generosity of the Buckland Hills Chick-fil-A restaurant and franchisee Alex Ottoway, the first meeting was extra-special and DELICIOUS as students enjoyed the signature chicken sandwiches!
The Chick-fil-A Leader Academy is a national high school leadership program focused on IMPACT THROUGH ACTION. Last year our students planned and implemented three service projects. In the fall, students participated in the One Million Book Giveaway by distributing books to local children in the Plaza at Buckland Hills. The leaders then visited a local nursing home to spread Christmas cheer with games, crafts, and carols!
In the spring, our Chick-fil-A leaders planned and ran a volleyball tournament to raise funds for the Kitchen of Love Ministry in Guatemala. The entire school supported this project as well by creating small blessing bags for the Guatemalan students. One of our leaders had the pleasure of visiting five schools in Guatemala and seeing the bags distributed.
This year our Chick-fil-A Leader Academy at Cornerstone has 22 student-leaders registered! During the first meeting, students not only enjoyed some tasty chicken, but they also learned about the pillars of the program and began preparations for this year’s One Million Book Giveaway. This year the leaders chose to distribute the books at the Maple Street School in Vernon, CT.
We are excited about another year of watching our young leaders grow as they serve the community.
This program is made possible at CCS by the generous sponsorship of the Buckland Hills Chick-fil-A restaurant. The next time you stop by for chicken, be sure to thank them for supporting our students!
