Developing a Growth Mindset with Friendzy!
THIS MONTH (Summary from Friendzy) /// We are in the second unit of Friendzy! Time flies when you are having fun! During this time we are teaching the students the Catchphrase I Can Do It! We will explore the differences between a fixed and a GROWTH MINDSET and then determine how to develop and nurture a growth mindset.
Catchphrase (main point for students to catch on to):
I Can Do It!
Key Verses (Biblical anchor points):
Romans 8:28 (NLT)
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God.”
Philippians 4:13 (NIV)
“I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.”
Did you know that only 50% of individuals have a growth mindset? That means half of us are more likely working with a fixed mindset. We can grow together through Friendzy!
We encourage you to Continue the Friendzy Conversation with your student! Here are the main points your student will learn in Unit 2:
We can decide to have a growth mindset. Instead of telling ourselves “I can’t,” we can say, “I can do it!”
We can develop and grow our growth mindset. As we take on challenges and work through struggles, we increase our growth mindset. God’s promise is that He will work all things together for good. This gives us hope, peace, and determination because of our faith, not in ourselves, but in Him!
Who we are today does not define who we will be tomorrow. God gives us the power to transform. We can change, we can learn, and we can grow!
TACKLING GROWTH /// It can be easy to operate with a fixed mindset, for us and for students. We have to look at each challenge as an opportunity to grow our minds, just like we would grow our muscles during a workout. It isn’t easy and at times can be exhausting; but the more we push through the hard parts of life, the more we grow! So we challenge you to challenge yourself and your child to say, “I Can Do It!”
WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU /// Has there been a time this month that you “caught” your child exercising a growth mindset? Tell us about it!
When kids learn friendship, they learn it for life!
