Spring Soccer at CCS!
The Cornerstone Lions Middle School Soccer team took first place in the wrap-up championship for the Connecticut Catholic School & Christian Academy Soccer league!
Each spring our Middle School athletes participate in the varsity (grades 6-8) division of this local league. This year’s team had a great season, just missing the final four tournament by one goal!
The team rallied and swept the Varsity Wrap-Up Championship by winning all three games and claimed first place in the Varsity Wrap-Up Championship.
Cornerstone’s coach, Coach Ed Main, was also honored by his fellow coaches, AD’s and referees with the league’s Coach’s and Sportsmanship Award at the varsity (Gr. 6-8) level. Cornerstone player, Mimi Smyrnow, was recognized by the league as one of four Most Oustanding Players.
Congratulations, Lions!
We would also like to thank Coach Main and his assistant coaches, Coach Sullivan and Coach Smyrnow. At Cornerstone we are blessed by committed and talented volunteers like our coaches!
This year we also fielded an upper elementary team (Grades 3-5) that participated in the league’s junior varsity division This was only our second year building this team, and it was a good season.
Congratulations to our upper elementary team and coaches. Thank you to Coach Bushong and his assistants, Coach Jaconetta and Mrs. Weymer.
